As the 2020-21 school year begins, much has changed since this time last year. Instead of students returning to school, excited about seeing their friends and teachers, they are staying home, learning virtually. They are isolated, lonely and stressed. They may also be dealing with added stressors at home as their families face unemployment or reduced hours, and not able to take advantage of the healthy, hot meals served at school.
In these challenging times, we remain committed to MTM’s mission of offering kids tools to help them face life through impactful yoga and mindfulness programming. Here is our plan:
- Lessons that we provide in the classroom are now be taught virtually. Students will continue to become well versed in what it means to be mindful.
- Videos sent to classroom teachers will contain lessons on mindfulness, yoga poses, guided meditations or gratitude and deep relaxation with lots of focus on breath work, in a fun, innovative way.
- Videos may be viewed at any time by any number of students at the discretion of classroom teachers, providing a much-needed break in a very demanding school day.
